rinity already exists: Father-Son-Spirit
Before Romance is Relationship;
Before Relationship is Creation
Before Creation is God in Tri-unity
Gen. 1:26-31; Gen. 2:1-25 (God Creates; we are Re-creators)
Gender is part of Romance but much of a Personal Sense of
Romance goes beyond gender or sex.
Fall from Grace (drama continues from chapter 3 on)
John 3:16; John 14:1-3
Ephesians 5:25-33 Theme of One Flesh-ness
Revelation 1-5; 19:1-10; chapters 21-22
od is Romantic because He is of one essence/substance in 3 Persons
(first loves, first family, yet so united as to be referred to as ONE)
od is Romantic because He Makes & Does & Loves The Impossible
(The Universe/world, Creation/creatures, Human beings)
od is Romantic because He Becomes one of us, to Die, to Win us Back to Himself
od is Romantic because He Loves us as His Own chosen, His Own People, as His Own Israel, as His Own Church, as His Own Individuals one by one by name.
od is more Romantic than we are for several obvious reasons:
- God’s Love created us to be like Him (the power of love/romance).
- God Loves more than we do. God IS love; we LEARN to love.
- God is greater & thus must overcome more barriers to love us, to woo us back from sin & evil, from rejection & distractions; His Grace is greater than our grace.
- The Bible is the Story of that drama of God winning back what He “gave up” or “lost.”
- The Drama of Redemption is Romantic because it is a Relational & Cosmic Adventure.
- The Drama of God’s Romance is revealed in His Love & Care & Naming of everything He made; God SEES Everything/Everyone and still patiently loves.
- As we grow & become like Christ our Romantic Hero, we too grow in romantic love. God’s Adventurous Romantic Love is expressed in everything He says about everything: people, angels, rocks, water, flora, fauna, stars, trees, etc.
- The Christian Romantic Artist can begin to embody, en-flesh, substantiate, take on the capacities of God’s Great Capacity for the Longsuffering of Unrequited Romance until all things are RESTORED by Jesus Christ Himself (1 Corinthians 13 is about all this).
A. First, for God Himself
B. Second, for other humans
C. Third, for all of creation... Romance/romantic sense of life transcends gender.
hat the Christian Artist Re-creates should reflect:
That same dramatic Glory of God’s Romance with His Creation
from Grace to Grace,
from Faith to Faith / from Glory to Glory. Amen.
